Google to launch touchscreen laptop line – report


PanARMENIAN.Net - Google is reportedly planning to launch a line of touchscreen laptops later this year, Digital Spy said.
The Wall Street Journal claims that the web giant’s new hardware will run the Chrome operating system and embrace cloud computing technology.
The move would see Google move into direct competition in the sector with Microsoft, whose Windows 8 operating system is designed with touchscreen computers in mind.
Google has already made inroads in the budget computing market, selling around 100,000 $199 and $249 Chromebooks in the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2012.
Samsung and Acer have served as manufacturing partners for recent Chromebook models, but it is yet to be confirmed which company will partner with Google for its touchscreen PCs.
Google is yet to officially confirm plans to launch a line of touchscreen laptops.
