Yemen on Fire

Protesters killed amidst clashes with police.
In Yemen, the streets were the scene of bloody violence as the pro-president forces came face to face with the protesters. Six people were killed in the recent collisions between opposing factions in Yemeni society. This came about at a time when the president Ali Abdullah Saleh has refused to sign the declaration of his peaceful exit from politics and office.
The weapons used by security forces and the opposition included mortar and tanks. In the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, government buildings were blown apart and set on fire in a cycle of hatred and antipathy. America, for one, is deeply disappointed at the Yemeni president’s two-faced policy. His refusal to sign the GCC deal has led to a virtual conflagration in Yemen.
