Australian Quran College grows with new Dubai centre planned

AlFirdaus Quran College has been growing steadily over the past few years. It currently has five centres operating in Sydney including Auburn, Bankstown, Blacktown, Hurstville and Liverpool.

At the end of the month AlFirdaus will partner with Al Farooq Arabic School to establish a presence in Adelaide, South Australia. It will provide an Arabic and Quran teaching program for children between the ages of three and 17.

The Quran college is not only expanding in Australia but it has also plans to start teaching in Dubai. The management team at AlFirdaus has been negotiating with a group in Dubai to expand the college’s teaching services to the United Arab Emirates.

AlFirdaus Quran College was established in 2005 with a vision to connect Muslims of all ages and backgrounds with the divine book of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala (SWT). It seeks to provide Muslims in Australia with the opportunity to correctly recite, understand, and appreciate the beauty of the glorious Quran.

It was started by a group of seven brothers with a long history of da’wah activities in Australia. AlFirdaus began with only 15 students and now has hundreds of students studying and this number is continuously growing with the help of Allah SWT.

AlFirdaus is an unaffiliated, not-for-profit organisation that re-invests heavily into the quality of the teachers and resources at the college.

The college’s objectives are to teach and educate students the correct manner in which to recite, memorize and understand the Quran, serve as a role model organisation for Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and to influence society towards righteousness and truth.

Its long-term objective is tarbiyyah (the education and correct upbringing of the people) through the vehicle of teaching Quran. AlFirdaus adopts the Qaedah Al Nooraniyah method for teaching, but also develops part of its program internally. It is an excellent teaching method for Australian Muslim students as it combines the learning of the Arabic alphabet, tajweed rules and Quran memorisation into one fast-tracked program.

Students from as young as three years old are taught to correctly and properly pronounce the words of the Quran and understand the rules associated with recitation. AlFirdaus is successful in its teaching approach as students are taught in small class groups with most classes consisting of a maximum of seven students to ensure each student is given focused attention in an individualised manner.

It fosters a great learning environment, which is conducive to learning, and employs highly qualified teachers who undergo regular training to ensure their teaching skills are up-to-date.

The focus is on getting students to love learning Quran and AlFirdaus has been successful in its endeavors due to the high student retention rate it has seen over the years.

On Sunday 27 January 2013 AlFirdaus Quran College will be holding its Open Day at the State Sports Centre, Sydney Olympic Park from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. The day will be an exciting family day with stalls, discounted rides, and food.

Members of the public will be able to meet the college teachers, chat with previous and current students, and learn about AlFirdaus’ courses. Adults and children may also receive a free Quran reading assessment on the day, and the opportunity to enroll in Alfirdaus Quran College courses.
