La Trobe University offers online Islamic finance course

La Trobe University has joined forces with the Dubai-based Ethica Institute of Islamic Finance to launch Australia’s first e-learning program in Islamic finance.
The six-week Islamic Finance Professional Development course will help to boost Australia’s reputation as a hub for Islamic finance, with students from India, China and the Middle East being targeted.
The course will aim to provide students with academic and industry knowledge of the products within the Islamic finance and banking industry in Australia and overseas.
Ethica managing director Atif Khan said he believed that e-learning was the best way to address Australia’s growing demand for certified Islamic finance graduates.
La Trobe University was also first in Australia to offer a Masters program in Islamic banking and finance two years ago.
